Enjoying A Great Drink

I grew up in a home where the adults didn't drink, which is why I was pretty excited to start as soon as I was old enough. However, one of the first things that struck me after I started drinking were the incredible combinations of alcohol that were available. It was really neat to mix different drinks and to see how various combinations of drinks tasted. I wanted to create a fun blog for other people who might be interested in drinking. Check out these fun posts to learn all about ways to mix drinks, entertain a crowd, and have a great time.

Jammin' Tannin: Three Types Of Wine For Beginners

For those who are new to drinking wine, the vast options to choose from may feel overwhelming! Luckily, just starting out with a few different types of wine can be a fantastic way to educate yourself more on the different types available. Even more enjoyable when paired with food, trying out new wines can be a fun adventure to embark on! Read on for a brief guide on three wines you should try right away.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Widely acknowledged as a wonderful choice for those new to the world of wine, Cabernet Sauvignon makes for a lovely medium to full-bodied wine with its hints of black cherry. Since this particular wine is grown throughout the world, each bottle may be unique in the notes it carries. For example, some may taste slightly more woody than others. Pairing wonderfully with food, try a Cabernet Sauvignon with your next Italian meal to truly bring out the flavors of your dish. This wine also pairs well with red meat, making it an excellent choice to accompany a steak dinner. Enjoy a glass over a meal of delectable sirloin steak, baked potatoes, and asparagus for a hearty and satisfying culinary experience!

Merlot

With a mild flavor and lower acidity, Merlot provides wine connoisseurs a chance to enjoy a remarkable flavor profile. With notes of dark berries and fruits such as plums, blueberries, and black cherries, Merlot has a highly sophisticated profile that works well with most meals. Since this wine is a bit less bold than others, a chicken dinner would make for the perfect accompaniment. Enjoy a roasted chicken dinner, complete with a buttery herb sauce and paired with glazed carrots for a meal that will not be soon forgotten. Since this wine also features notes of chocolate and vanilla, it wonderfully brings out the sweet yet bitter flavors of a chocolate torte.

Pinot Noir

If you'd like to try and venture into some adventurous territory when it comes to wines, try out a Pinot Noir! Often described as having an earthy flavor with an impressive flavor profile that includes notes of mushrooms, truffles, raspberries, and spices. Having a smooth mouthfeel, this wine offers those tasting it a luxurious experience. A wine as elegant as the Pinot Noir deserves to be paired with a meal that will not detract from its own flavor profile. Try this wine out with a dish of grilled salmon, your favorite pasta, or a delectable salad. When in doubt, keep it simple! Have your glass of Pinot Noir alongside a spread of gourmet crackers, cheeses, and a variety of meats for a culinary night to remember!
